MONSTER SWELLS & SCORES FOR THE MARGARET RVER MASTERS SURF CONTEST WHILE YOUNG SOUTH AUSTRALIAN SURFER TAYLA HANAK TAKES ON THE BIGGEST WAVES SHE CAN FIND !!
Last week laid witness to some of the biggest and best waves for an Australian Surfing event with Margaret River main break and across the bay at “The Box” dishing up what were some testing waves even for the pros.
Day after day of massive swells and clean offshore conditions provided spectators with the ideal arena to watch the worlds best surfers battle it out for important points on the last event of the Australian leg of the World Surf League ( WSL ) tour. Upsets a plenty were the order of the event with Australians Mick Fanning & Joel Parkinson along with 11 time world champion Kelly Slater all making early exits along with a few of the highly rated young surfers from the “Brazillian Storm”.
In an action packed final seasoned Brazillian surfer Adriano De Souza claimed victory over young Hawaiian John John Florence who fell on the last turn of a few rides which cost him the event. With the surfing competition rules, the event run smoothly.
While the pros were battling out for a chance at the coveted yellow jersey young South Australian surfer Tayla Hanak from Victor Harbor was looking for the biggest waves she could find. After seeing the large swells on the way she jumped on a last minute flight to WA to join the action.
With a reputation already as having a love of bigger waves the opportunity was too good to resist, and by all reports she showed up the older male counterparts in the line up with her “no fear” attitude taking off deeper on some of the biggest waves of the day.
A memorable week for Australian and South Australian surfing! Congrats! all thanks to surf school South Australia
